About Us

Bereaved Families is a registered non-profit organization with a charitable status that operates with a volunteer board of directors, staff and facilitators. We currently operate entirety on donations and grants.  


Our programs and services include walk-in support, Support and Share Sessions, General Grief programs, Trauma programs, Adolescent Grief Support, Resilience and Well-being sessions and Death Cafes.


Since inception in 1990, Bereaved Families has helped thousands of people by providing a wide range of programs and services designed to support their grief.

 Our mission is to provide programs and services to help individuals cope with loss and grief as a result of the death of someone they love.  


We envision a society where support is readily available for persons grieving the loss of a loved one.

Our Team

 Our team is committed to helping people move through the grief journey. We are expanding rapidly. Our team of 31 active individuals across Nova Scotia consists of a Project Lead, a Program Administrator, Regional Coordinators and Facilitators. The organization is overseen by a Board of Directors.
